We fell in love with Vanlife on our honeymoon in 2017, when we rented a basic, hideously painted Wicked Camper to drive around Canada’s national parks. We immediately loved the freedom being in a van gave us, and the fact that everything you own comes with you too!
After five months of backpacking around South America, and a further six months living in Barcelona, we arrived back in England with a van shaped hole in our heart. So, we immediately bought our first Van – a VW T4 called Patricia. We loved her. And for two years, every weekend and whenever we could get the time off work we were out and about in her exploring.
And 2020 was going to be a big one for us, with plans to go further afield to places like Norway, Portugal, Italy and more. But then – as we all know – Covid-19 hit. And those big travel plans were off!
Stuck inside our flat in North London, with a few visits to our parents out in the countryside, we quickly realised how much we didn’t want to be confined to living in the city anymore. As soon as lockdown lifted we were out in our old van as much as we could. We love being outside, walking and exploring, and with our jobs no longer requiring us to travel into the office five days a week (at least for the short term), and we got thinking.. what if we just lived in a van?
Fast forward two months, our pokey London flat was on the market and we began our search for the perfect van!
